The Waiting is the Hardest Part

The testing process sounds simple enough, right? Go to the lab. Give a sample. Receive results in one to three business days. What is so difficult about this one might ask? After all, waiting is a part of life. We wait for stop lights during a commute to work, an elevator in an office building, or for the end of the work week. From an outsider’s perspective, it appears black and white.

For many of our clients, as soon as the lab technician unties the elastic band from the arm, the most difficult part of the experience begins, the extreme anxiety that comes with medical testing. Time somehow slips into slow motion. All thoughts are consumed by this unknown outcome. At night, the inability to fall asleep. When the morning comes, a lack of appetite. The inability to focus on anything else but this test. Countless studies have also documented the significant impact that waiting has on patient anxiety.

“You don’t understand. I need to know by today, please. I will do anything. I know I sound crazy…maybe I am.” One thing is certain. You are not crazy. You are not alone. Many other clients echo your same thoughts. We understand how stressful this time of limbo is and do everything we can to guide you through it as painlessly and quickly as possible. We will inform you of every step and give you information needed to make the best decision that is best for you. While it can be upsetting to receive the news of a positive test result, our doctors network has physicians in almost every state to treat bacterial infections, like chlamydia or gonorrhea. We can set up a treatment for an additional fee or provide you with your results to take to your own physician. We are here to help.

Soon enough the hardest part will be a distant memory.
